Yogyakarta Trip|Day 2/3: Temples

Prambanan Temple

This is my second time to visit Prambanan temple. First time was in 2012 and some areas at the temple still under renovation due to Merapi eruption in 2010.

After from Prambanan Temple, we rushed to Ratu Boko Temple expect to see sunset there. But unfortunately, the weather was cloudy. So I did not take good photos there. 😦

Next! Sate Klatak!

What is Sate Klatak? Usually satay will be grilled with soysauce and using bamboo stick as the skewers, but Sate Klatak only coated with salt and pepper then grilled with bicycle spokes as the skewers. Using bicycle spokes helps the meat cook evenly. The name Klatak was taken from the sound ‘klatak-klatak’ while grilling the satay with charcoal.

We went to 3 satay places. First was Sate Klatak Pak Bari (this place was taken in AADC2 movie) But we did not eat there since the satay was sold out.

It was so crowded, because the place suddenly become popular after the AADC2 movie.

Second, after that we drove around the place (there are a lot of sate klatak stall there). We decided to go this sate klatak stall (I forgot the name) with the lady owner. The waitress was not so friendly.

Tadaa~! Introducing you Sate Klatak!

1 portion consists of 2 skewers (common satay 1 portion consists of 10 skewers). It costs Rp 12,000 per portion. The meat was bigger than we expected and it was very juicy! I’m not a fan of goat meat (this is young goat meat) but it did not taste and smell like goat at all. Totally worth to try. 🙂

Third, this is the last stall we visited. We moved because we were still hungry and the previous stall was very slow and unfriendly. This is Sate Klatak Pak Jono.

He is cooking tongseng

We went to Alun Alun Yogyakarta afterwards. But I did not join the others as I was feeling sick since afternoon. I stayed in the car while waiting for them. I think because of less sleep & tight working schedule before holiday and this trip has tight schedule too.

Alun Alun Yogyakarta is popular with this kind of ride. There are many types of ‘car’ available for you to choose. You need to ‘cycle’ it to make it move forward.

Alright! Let’s we call it a day! See you in next post! *psst as you are reading this, I’m somewhere in Singapore right now* 😀
