It was a bright Sunday when we had our engagement day. We were grateful that our event went smoothly with no hassle. Only some awkward moments between me and Mr. F. :p
Our engagement was held at Superbowl Jun Njan in The Breeze area. I arrived there very early, before the restaurant was open for business. It was because I need to decor the helium balloons that I ordered with 2 of my best friends, Olivia & Nana. They were the one that very excited about the day and offered me to help to decorate the photo spot.
In my family beliefs, in engagement day, the lady’s side will bear all the cost of the day (ex : foods). Because the man’s side is the one who come as our guest. In the past people held engagement day in the lady’s house. But nowadays, people prefer to celebrate it in restaurant or multipurpose hall to reduce the cleaning time, cooking time, etc.
So after all my family who was invited arrived before the event time, 11AM. Mr F and his family entered the restaurant while my family lined up to greet them as they come.
As they entered the room, I introduced his family to my family. All the queue from both sides should be started from the eldest person from main family. Then continued with other extended families. Me and him cannot be located in the main line, he was in the last of the queue. (Well I’m not so sure what is the reason, but we just followed the culture).
After all of us got the chairs to sit down, his eldest brother started the introduction speech about what is the reason they came that day. He was very nervous, so he pulled the eldest sister to the front too. Haha
Then that’s when the awkward moment started. His brother and sister left Mr. F alone in the front. And his sister pulled me to the front too! Oh no! I’m not a very confident person when all of the eyes looking at me!
Those were a very awkward moments that captured by my sister and his brother-in-law. Gosh!
Finally we are official! and for sure we can focus on our wedding preparations. 🙂
Before we had our meal, I must give a cup of chinese tea to everyone that is older than me. It was begun from his uncle (as a representative the eldest from his family) then to his aunt and until everyone got their tea.
His family brought us an engagement cake which was very pretty! It wasn’t a homemade but it taste very delicious (I wasn’t eating the buttercream 😐 )
This is the detail of the cake. 🙂
We thank everyone who came to our day and helped us to make this day went well! 🙂 And I thank to my eldest cousin who came that day because he were happened to be in Jakarta before he go back to Netherlands.
A rose ring box from Mr F and the ring that we chose together for our wedding. (yes, I’ll use the same ring for our wedding 🙂 )
